We have a new president

We are delighted that Helen Blaby of BBC Radio Northampton has accepted our invitation to be our new president.

Helen could sing before she could talk, or so the legend goes. She has a long musical history in Northamptonshire, having been the head chorister at St Peter and St Paul in Northampton and learning to play bassoon and flute with the, as it was then, music service….she doesn’t profess to be anywhere near competent on either.

Nowadays she has a weekly singing lesson to keep the pipes in good nick, and thinks that singing and music should be available on the NHS.

She says she is delighted to have been asked to be president of the Wellingborough Orpheus Choir, and looks forward to seeing you at a concert sometime soon.
